A Fast and Universal Vlasov Solver for Beam Dynamics Simulatuons in 3d∗

چکیده
The Vlasov equation can describe the evolution of a particle density under the effects of electromagnetic fields and thus it is possible to describe the evolution of a charged particle beam within an accelerator beam line. The Vlasov equation forms a partial differential equation in a 6D phase space witch renders it very expensive if it is solved via classical methods. A more efficient approach consists in representing the particle distribution function by a discrete set of characteristic moments. For each moment a time evolution equation can be stated. These ordinary differential equations can then be integrated efficiently by means of numerical methods if all acting forces together with a proper initial condition are given. The beam dynamics simulation tool V-Code has been implemented at TEMF on the basis of the moment approach. In this paper the numerical model, main features and designated use cases of the V-Code will be presented.

Development of a 2 D Vlasov Solver for Longitudinal Beam Dynamics in Single - Pass Systems ∗
Direct numerical methods for solving the Vlasov equation offer some advantages over macroparticle simulations, as they do not suffer from the numerical noise inherent in using a number of macroparticles smaller than the bunch population. Unfortunately these methods are more time-consuming and generally considered impractical in a full 6D phase space. However, in a lower-dimension phase space th...

Partially liquefied vitreous humor is a common physical and biochemical degenerative change in vitreous body which the liquid component gets separated from collagen fiber network and leads to form a region of liquefaction. The main objective of this research is to investigate how the oscillatory motions influence flow dynamics of partial vitreous liquefaction (PVL). So far computational fluid d...

Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...

Three-dimensional (3D) Poisson solver plays an important role in the study of space-charge effects on charged particle beam dynamics in particle accelerators. In this paper, we propose three new 3D Poisson solvers for a charged particle beam in an open rectangular conducting pipe. These three solvers include a spectral integrated Green function (IGF) solver, a 3D spectral solver, and a 3D integ...
